John 17:3

Life everlasting. How does one attain this? John 17: confirms that, "knowledge is power," but not just any knowledge. You must come to an accurate knowledge of God, and of his Son. What does John 17:3 reveal about the only true God?

Dictionary.com defines the word "only" as such: without others or anything further; alone; solely; exclusively, and the word "true" as such: real; genuine; authentic. You are one of a kind. There is no one like you. Although scientists may be able to clone you, a clone, although looking like you, cannot be exactly like you, or replace you. In like fashion, solely God can be exclusively God. God cannot have an equal.

Can Jesus be God's equal?  Jesus states at John 14:28 "You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I." Also note that at John 17:3, God is the sendor and Jesus is the sendee. The word "sent" is defined as such: to order, direct, compel, or force to go. Does this seam like an equal partnership to you?

Considering that the truth shall set you free, then also, believing a lie will serve to be a trap. Therefore, let us be like the Boreans, of Acts 17:11 "Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they recieved  the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."
